Penhale Round Cookhouse + Pub

Whether you’re grabbing breakfast before a long day surfing on Fistral Beach, or you’re sitting down for a big family dinner after a trip on the steam train at Lappa Valley, at the Penhale Round you can enjoy some of the best food in Newquay at great-value prices. Tuck into tasty breakfasts, lunches and desserts right off the A30, and after you’re done look forward to exploring some of the most scenic spots in Cornwall. It’s always a good time for another round at the Penhale Round!

Our team
We’re very fortunate to have such a committed team here at the Penhale Round, some of our friendly faces have been with us for over 10 years! A lot of our team were born and raised in the nearby villages of Fraddon and Indian Queens, and we know Newquay like the back of our hand. Newquay’s a popular holiday spot for obvious reasons (so many top-class beaches so close together!) and we love seeing the regulars who pop in every year, as well as meeting lots of new faces.

We like to do our bit and get involved in anything we can support locally, so we often donate prizes to local schools for fundraisers. We also host lots of raffles to support Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children – make sure to take part!

Our location
Our restaurant is right on the A30, we’re really easy to get to. We have a great play area for kids under 12 and large garden seating with 8-seater round benches. We’re only a 20-minute drive from Fistral Beach, Great Western Beach, Towan Beach and plenty of other golden sandy beaches. If you’ve already been to the beach, we’re also only a 20-minute drive from Goss Moor National Nature Reserve and only 10-minutes’ drive from Lappa Valley.

Why we love Newquay
The Penhale Round is named after an archaeological dig from the early 90s, which uncovered a stone-built hut dating back to the Iron Age. Now, we’re not saying our plucky little restaurant has been around quite as long as our namesake, but we’ve been in business since 1996 and we’ve learnt a lot since then, especially about the best things to do around Newquay.

Newquay is probably most famous for its amazing beaches, but that’s not all there is to do. We’re really close to Blue Reef Aquarium where you can learn about all the wonderful sea life surrounding us, go have an arr-some time at the Pirate’s Quest Adventure Golf and make a day of it with a long trip through Newquay Zoo.

And that’s not all, we’re in a great spot right bang in the middle of some of the best things to see in Cornwall. Enjoy a delicious dinner with us and then go to the very edge of the UK at Land’s End, or sit back and enjoy a good soak at Oasis Fun Pools.

Frequently asked questions

Our kitchen manager recommends our burgers – they’re delicious and you can always add more to make them even bigger and better. Our smothered chicken is also popular because it’s so delicious and tasty.

We do a brilliant Sunday roast with all the trimmings. We also have a great selection of drinks to wash it down.

You can’t beat the Premier Inn Breakfast that we serve at the Penhale Round, an unlimited selection of the best of an English breakfast. That’s bacon, eggs cooked just how you like them, hash browns, black pudding, toast and plenty more with free tea and coffee to wash it all down.

We certainly do. Kids love our outdoor playframe, it makes keeping them occupied after dinner a breeze.

Definitely, we have a really friendly team who care about making everyone feel welcome. Cookhouse + Pub is a great space for everyone, including families. We’ve changed the space of our restaurant so families won’t disturb other guests, no matter how noisy dinner time might get.

Book online for groups of 6 or less. For groups over 6 our restaurant is in line with all current restrictions. For specific numbers, please get in touch with us via email or over the phone.
